What this alloy is for
An environmentally sound and economical alternative to hard chrome plating. Resistant to wear under impact; iron-based, so cost-efficient.
Strength
Where it is strong
- Can replace hard chrome — contains no Cr(VI)
- High wear resistance under continuous friction and impact
- Iron-based, therefore more economical than nickel and cobalt alloys
Application
Typical applications
- Large industrial hydraulic rods
- Construction machinery pistons
- Worn surfaces of mining and construction equipment
Limit
Limitations
- Where corrosion dominates, stainless or nickel-based alloys are the right choice
- Not intended to retain hardness at very high temperature
Alloy selection is made per part. Even on the same component the right alloy changes when operating conditions change. The quotation states which alloy was selected and why. All alloys →
Which alloy suits your part?
Send the material, operating conditions and type of wear; we will recommend an alloy and explain the reasoning.
